Market research on gay people:
  • Black and latino gay people are more open about it than whites, and less likely to report feeling stereotyped/discriminated against. Report authors suggest that's because they're used to it.
  • 29% of lesbians are single; 51% of gay men are.
  • In the past 3 months, the average gay man has seen 2.7 gay movies and gay women, 1.8. "Note: excludes porn."
  • "Educated & sophisticated activists" are "most likely male". The "serious, responsible, down-to-earth" crowd is "most likely female". But wait! By "most likely" they mean 54 and 55%, respectively.
  • "Making assumptions about the consumer can result in perpetuating harmful stereotypes and can backfire on marketing efforts." Which is exactly why I boycott Home Depot.
