if I can't be a woman then neither can you

A post on the best-edited blog in the world argues that all gay people are trans. Each of us exhibits at least one major trait that defies gender norms--attraction to members of the same sex. Many of us also exhibit other ones too, like having hung out with members of the opposite sex when we were five.

I accept all of that but add that straight people are "trans" too. Sexual orientation is one facet of gender out of many. It just happens to be a more prominent trait right now because gay people are receiving rights (why? probably has to do with judges getting sick of racial equality). So gayness gets all examined. People look back at the childhoods of homo siblings and say "he WAS really good at applying face paint!" Meanwhile there are all these guys out there who can't grow mustaches with wives who can. But no one muses about whether they're "trans."

There's man, there's woman, and you are neither. Sorry!
